About

Get To Know Dr. Angie Sage

Dr. Angie Sage was born in Honduras, and immigrated to the United States when she was 4. She knew from a young age that she wanted a profession in children’s healthcare, and after growing up in New Orleans, Louisiana, was set to begin her studies to achieve that goal. Hurricane Katrina hit the area on what would have been her 1st day of college, so Dr. Sage relocated to Baton Rouge, and it was there that she had the opportunity to work in a dental office as an assistant. Seeing pediatric dental work first hand encouraged her to apply for dental school and pursue a certificate in Pediatric Dentistry.

Dr. Sage received a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from LSU in Baton Rouge, and then earned a Doctorate of Dental Surgery from LSU School of Dentistry in 2014. She completed a pediatric dentistry residency at UT Health in San Antonio in 2016, and became board certified in 2017. Dr. Sage loves working with kids because they always have a fresh and innocent perspective, and being a mother makes her empathetic to her little patients and their needs.

While at LSU School of Dentistry, Dr. Sage met her husband, Joseph, who is a general dentist in the San Antonio area. The two fell in love with San Antonio during Dr. Sage’s residency here, and decided to make it their home. Dr. Sage's main goal is for all patients to have a positive experience and enjoy their dental visits, so that they can have lifelong oral care habits.

Dr. Sage and her husband have 2 sons — Matthew and Christian, and a goldendoodle named Teddy. Outside of the office, Dr. Sage spends her weekends exploring San Antonio and the surrounding areas with her family, especially getting out in nature. During football season you will find her cheering on her LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints!

Get To Know Dr. Renee Mikulec

Dr. Renee Mikulec is a board-certified pediatric dentist and a proud Texan! She was born in San Antonio, TX and grew up in the Dallas area. As a young child, she experienced extensive tooth decay, and remembers suffering from fear of dental treatment and embarrassment about her “silver smile”. Later on, in high school, Dr. Mikulec discovered her love and respect for dentistry during a health care class rotation. This experience clarified the importance of dental health and keeping good oral habits. This knowledge, coupled with her passion for working with children, especially those with special needs, made Dr. Mikulec a natural in the pediatric healthcare field.

She went on to complete her undergraduate work at Texas Woman’s University, earning a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. She went on to complete her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the UT Health in San Antonio in 2005, and then obtained a Master of Science and Pediatric Dental Certificate from The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children’s Hospital in 2007. Dr. Mikulec prides herself on treating her patients with a conservative and loving approach, while maintaining the values and standards of the professional board. When it comes to care, her philosophy has always been to treat each patient as she would her own child.

Outside of the office, Dr. Mikulec enjoys spending time with her family. She is married to Shane Asher, a retired USAF veteran, and has three adult step-babies, and two young sons, Cody and Logan. She also enjoys traveling, hiking, running, and attending concerts at Texas hot spots.

Get To Know Dr. Kathryn Walker

Dr. Kathryn Walker was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and dreamed of being a dentist from a young age. To pursue that career dream, she relocated to Texas for her undergraduate studies at Texas Tech University, and then earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the Colorado School of Dental Medicine.

She has always loved the carefree spirits and the energy kids bring to the world. We’re proud to have her as part of our distinguished staff here at Alamo Heights Pediatric Dentistry where she can work with little ones and their parents to prevent dental decay through education and knowledge, and to be a partner through treatment with kindness and love. Dr. Walker helps them from a young age to ensure they have a positive foundation to build their dental habits as adults.

When she’s not in the office, Dr. Walker spends her time traveling with her husband, Christopher, and their four kids: Charlie, Grayson, Finley, and Lincoln. She loves trying new restaurants around San Antonio, especially when she’s not breaking a sweat exercising!
